Dr. Mary DeFrank was born in Eugene, Oregon. She attended Oregon State University graduating with degrees in Biology and General Science in 1985. She received her medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1990. Dr. DeFrank served her internship at Good Samaritan Hospital and her residency was completed at Oregon Health Sciences University/Casey Eye Institute in 1994. She spent two years as an ophthalmologist in the Air Force before joining the Hillsboro Eye Clinic in 1996.

Dr. DeFrank is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology, Oregon Medical Association and Washington County Medical Society. Dr. DeFrank is the current Treasurer of the OAO.

Dr. DeFrank and her husband, Dana, live in Portland and have two daughters. They enjoy biking, kayaking, skiing and spending time at the beach.
