Dr. Timothy L. Gard was born in Seattle, Washington and divided his time growing up between the Northwest and Mid South. He attended Portland State University and received his college degree in 1983. He received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1988. Dr. Gard served his internship in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital. A three-year residency in ophthalmology was followed by a yearlong fellowship in medical retina. Dr. Gard joined Hillsboro Eye Clinic in 1992.

Dr. Gard is the former President of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology and holds an Associate Clinical Professor appointment at Oregon Health Sciences University and a staff appointment at the Portland Veterans Hospital where he is involved in Ophthalmology Resident Education. He is a member of the Oregon Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Washington County Medical Society.

Dr. Gard and his wife, Lisa, have three children. He and his family enjoy camping, fishing, biking and skiing.
